Dr. Maureen Bakken

Dr. Bakken graduated from the U of A with a family practice degree in 1978. Her interests in dermatology have expanded to include evidence-based anti-aging medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine and the CPSA.

In 2005 she opened a medical spa with the intention of providing Family Practice, Medical Dermatology and Cosmetic Aesthetics in one location. This allowed her to continue offering medical care to her long-term patients, many of whom have been with her since 1978 until December 2017 at which time no family practice has been available. Dr. Bakken is especially interested in the challenging area of Medical Dermatology and Facial Rejuvenation and Reconstruction.

Dr. Bakken has trained extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe so as to stay acquainted with the latest Medical Aesthetics treatments, enabling her to offer the most appropriate and effective options for every one of her patients’ needs.  2015 brought on more training in the latest Juvederm (volume replacement) addition-Volift. In the last several years Dr. Bakken has trained in PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to offer the latest up to date anti-aging techniques for hair growth and face rejuvenation (PRP Facial / Facelift) https://www.laserskincaremedspa.ca/prp/

In her personal time, Dr. Bakken enjoys country living, music, playing the piano and entertaining. Summer brings acreage work, hiking, mountain biking, camping and golfing, while winter sees Dr. Bakken skiing, skating and traveling to warmer locales to dive, golf and visit friends.
